The primary responsibilities of the Engineering Technician will be to develop maintenance procedures, diagnose abnormalities, and maintain equipment to assist engineers and scientists in research and development. The Engineering Technician will collaborate with the process engineering department to support equipment selection, installation, process development, and continuous improvement. The Engineering Technician will also partner with engineers as they design, modify, and test products and processes to document research in the creation phase of technology.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and/or GED with a minimum of 5+ years direct industry experience; OR Associate Degree in engineering technology or similar with 2+ years of direct industry experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting capability and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills and a demonstrated dedication to quality and accuracy.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Works as part of the team, communicates well with personnel at all organizational levels in a professional manner, and maintains a respectful work environment.
  • Knowledge of plant safety, environment, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to operate common hand and machine tools.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential company information.
  • Highly proficient in an MS Windows environment and M365 software applications.
  • Uses CMMS system for work order implementation, recordkeeping of daily activities, and planned projects.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Implement and document complex solutions to technical problems.
  • Responsible for performing advanced maintenance to automated equipment in a research and development manufacturing environment.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems.
  • Interpret schematics, diagrams, specifications, and blueprints to determine the proper assembly, alignment, as well as diagnose abnormalities on equipment down to the root cause.
  • Assist engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
  • Position also involves equipment installation and repair, generation of reports inventory of maintenance/facility parts.
  • Perform extensive research and development during creation phase of technology.
  • Inspect products and processes for flaws and identify areas of improvement.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and adapt to constantly changing priorities and demands of job on a regular basis.
  • Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Reports any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and other lab equipment (O-scope, DVM, etc.), and various transducers like pressure sensors, accelerometers, load cells, potentiometers, strain gauges, etc.
  • Ensure proper safety, food safety, sanitation, 5S, and regulation adherence including lock out tag out (LOTO), OSHA, safe quality foods (SQF), good manufacturing practices (GMP), etc.
  • Requires walking, ability to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and reach above shoulder heights and below waist throughout the day.
  • Lifting as required with proper lifting techniques up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • The position may occasionally require work off hours, on weekends, or on holidays as business demands require.
