Job Title: Software Engineer

Reports to: Product Engineering Director

Department/Group: Product/Engineering

Position Type: Full Time

Location: Remote | Johnston, IA office as needed

Travel Required: Yes; ability to travel as required by role (up to 10% of the time)

Primary Purpose & Function

Work collaboratively with team members to determine what problems our customers are facing and contribute to various aspects of the developing experiments to resolve those problems in a way that our customers enjoy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Works with team members to define and deliver solutions to problems faced by our customers.
• Collaborates to solve hard problems, assess old patterns, and establish new patterns
• Embraces change; challenges teams to make the best decisions.
• Works to continuously deliver high quality code.
• Assists in creating and maintaining automated tests.
• Translates technical ‘how’ things are done into the value those capabilities bring to the customer
• Delivers cost effective solutions whether built or purchased.
• Participates in strategic product alignment discussions to ensure that initiatives are directly related to work being performed.
• Drives best practices and identify innovative strategies for successful software delivery.
• Provides technical leadership on products.
• Collaborates with team members to review existing and establish new architectural guidelines.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

• Experience delivering software solutions to production (3+ years).
• Formal education or life experience delivering software solutions.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in an environment leveraging collaborative coding practices including pairing or mobbing.
• Experience using tools to package and deploy software solutions to production and lower environments
• Demonstrated empathy for the customer.
• Technical experience with developing production applications with some of the following technologies:
• Azure, AWS or GCP
• Remote CI like Circle, Travis, Azure DevOps, or similar
• C# or other strongly typed languages
• Angular, React, Vue, or other similar web frameworks
• Relational and/or Non-Relational Data stores

Travel

• Ability to travel for short periods of time as necessary

Physical Demands

• Oral communication over the phone, and in person
• Spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle and eye strain.
