Job Description:

The Senior Analytical Scientist will be responsible for managing and conducting analytical chemistry activities related to the development and optimization of innovative products for shelf-life extension of fresh produce. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to support product development, quality control, regulatory registration, and process optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to develop and validate 5-10 analytical methods that are critical to company sponsored projects independently.
  • Able to provide guidance on selection and implementation of proper analytical tools for food, biological and chemical research.
  • Able to derive critical insights from results by a variety of techniques to guide direction.
  • Able to resolve complex requests from regulatory affairs.
  • Able to provide guidance and support to junior analysts to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Deliver results on time and achieve milestones necessary for business objectives.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot key analytical equipment (GC-FID, GC/MS, HPLC, UV-Vis, and TGA) at the Hazel Technologies Chicago Facility.
  • Support regulatory compliance activities in the spirit of GLP practices and principals.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental designs and reported data.
  • Collaborate effectively with chemists, agronomists, technical experts, product development and project managers to create high-quality and high-impact experimental reports.
  • Be an effective communicator to share experimental results and provide inputs.
  • Participate in continuing education to further developmental capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience.
  • Direct experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, and other methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and validating analytical methods for the analysis of complex matrices.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in regulatory and GLP is a plus.
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 30 pounds across the office for various needs.

Salary Range: $110,000-$140,000
