What you will do:

As a Process Scientist I on the Process Metallurgy team, you will focus on developing new flowsheets and refining process steps for converting iron-containing feedstocks into purified solutions suitable for electroplating. The majority of your time will be spent in the lab performing experiments and characterizing products and raw materials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setup and perform novel bench-scale experiments to test and define new process steps under the direction of senior Scientist
  • Perform routine chemical analysis using standardized procedures
  • Analyze lab data to provide answers to key questions with support from other team members
  • Summarize and present experimental results clearly and concisely to other team members
  • Support general lab operations and maintenance as needed
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, mining, or metallurgical engineering, or related
  • Experience testing chemical processes in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to do basic calculations for stoichiometry, unit conversions, and solution preparation
  • Willingness to troubleshoot chemical processing equipment and experiments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as needed
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing processes and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze experimental data, reach conclusions, and communicate results
  • Critical thinking approach to problems and focus on finding answers
  • Interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Safety-first mindset; share potential risks with others before they result in hazardous outcomes
  • Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint

What we want you to bring to the team:

  • 1+ years of industry experience testing chemical processes in a laboratory environment (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)

Compensation:

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
