What you will do:

The Project Manager will primarily contribute to the company’s progress by tracking and shepherding internal development projects. Doing so begins with interacting with internal and external collaborators to assemble accurate timelines and resourcing expectations. The Project Manager will then monitor project status relative to those expectations, continuously probing for opportunities for acceleration and for potential risks. There may be multiple projects in progress requiring attention at any given time. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading discussions of current and upcoming work, then synthesizing information into timelines of activities. Timelines should include rigorous logic in the form of fully flushed out inter-task dependency chains.
  • Continuously monitoring of active timelines to ensure accuracy.
  • Independently identify and remove minor and moderate barriers to success, escalating more major issues as appropriate.
  • Developing relationships with project engineers and adjusting exact project management techniques to best suit individual needs.
  • Contributing directly to projects where possible, including managing vendor relationships and providing hands-on help to select activities.
  • Communicating project status information through in-person meetings as well as digital reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, computer science or related field of study; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing projects (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
  • Fundamental knowledge of project management methodologies, including critical path analysis
  • Ability to capture and maintain a high volume of detailed information
  • Experience with rapidly and critically analyzing projects, developing risk matrices and risk mitigations.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design, concepts, principles, practices, and procedures
  • Extremely strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An enquiring mind and desire to understand deeply
  • Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

What we want you to bring to the team:

  • Competency in Python programming, allowing the Project Manager to build on our existing suite of tools.
  • Familiarity with Asana
