The Position

We're looking for a Workplace Manager to manage Sofar’s beautiful bayside facility. You will play an integral role in shaping Sofar’s culture. If you love creating spaces where your teammates can focus, collaborate, and do their best work, you might be a great fit for this role! We have a strong in-person presence, so we really care that our office is a place where team members feel welcome and supported! You will report to Sofar’s Head of People and work closely with the other members of the Operations and People Team. This is a full-time, onsite role in San Francisco located on Pier 28 (just 1 pier from the Ferry Building!)

At Sofar you will:

  • Creating a warm, professional and welcoming first impression for our guests, clients and employees at our reception desk
  • Manage our facilities, including managing vendors, stocking office supplies, addressing any facility or workplace issues (restroom flood, refrigerator not cooling, etc) promptly, and other duties as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors (catering, maintenance, janitorial, event staff, etc.), escorting and directing contractors who are here to do one-off and recurring tasks to ensure compliance with our policies and procedures
  • Oversee day-to-day workplace operations, manage budgets, and ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining and upgrading facilities through vendor management
  • Implement preventive maintenance, conduct inspections and audits, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Collaborate with the rest of the People team to foster office culture, organize company-wide events, greet interviewing candidates and ensure a focused and productive work environment for all
  • Coordinate with vendors who handle day-to-day operations and maintenance of our office building such as food and snacks, deliveries, office supplies, and daily janitorial services
  • Help to build and maintain our Standard Operating Procedures to ensure documentation is up to date
  • Stay current with industry trends, and recommend innovative solutions to improve facilities management processes

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities coordination / workplace management
  • Have excellent organizational skills and strong communication abilities (both verbal and written)
  • Have a service and solution-based mindset/internal customer orientation, and are excited to take on essential but behind-the-scenes tasks to help our teams do impactful work
  • Possess working knowledge of facilities-related systems, equipment, and infrastructure with the ability to supervise maintenance, repairs, and services
  • Enjoy rolling up your sleeves and handling day-to-day tasks as they arise–no task is too big or too small
  • Professional, reliable, flexible and have a positive, can-do attitude in line with Sofar's core values.
  • Enjoy juggling multiple projects, especially in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment
