HARVESTING ASSOCIATE - 2nd shift

The Seeding associate unloads trays that have been filled, seeded and watered onto a pallet; transports pallets of seeded trays into the Germination Chamber. The seeding associate works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. He/She must be self-motivated and take the initiative on daily tasks. The seeding associate reports to and takes direction from the Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates sowing line
- Seeds all plants for the greenhouses
- Assists with inventory counts
- Ensures equipment operates correctly
- Handles soil in hopper
- Loads empty pots and trays into slots
- Meets a minimum production level of 130 pieces per hour
- Assists in Greenhouse Department as needed
- Reports any departmental discrepancies or problems to the Greenhouse Operations Manager
- Adheres to Food Safety guidelines
- Reports and is accountable for notifying Greenhouse Operations Manager of observed safety concerns
- Maintains a clean working environment
- Performs other duties as assigned by Greenhouse Operations Manager or another member of management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
Experience: 1- year experience working in a Greenhouse environment or growing organic herbs and microgreens, knowledgeable of primary organic herbs production including harvest and post-harvest.
Language Fluency: No specific language requirements; bi-lingual English/Spanish fluency preferred.
Technology: No specific technology requirements; basic computer and keyboarding skills preferred.
Licensure: No specific licensure required.
Credentials: No specific professional credentials required.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Manual Dexterity: Ability to quickly move your hands and arms sufficiently to grasp, hold, finely manipulate and assemble herbs and packaging.
Muscle Strength & Flexibility: Ability to bend, reach, stoop, squat, pivot, turn, balance, walk, pus, pull, and lift and carry up to 30lbs.
Trunk Strength: Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support a standing position for sustained periods over time without ‘giving out.
Withstand Cold: Ability to perform duties, responsibilities, and assigned tasks with maximum efficiency while working in a sustained cold work environment.
Sustained Fast Pace: Ability to work at a very fast sustained pace without reduction in quality, food safety and workplace safety compliance.
Not Allergic: Ability to breathe, touch and work around fresh herbs and leafy produce safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Temperature: Performs work in large industrial space kept at sustained temperatures between 70 to 100 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Noise: Moderate – generally, between 80-90 decibels or below.
Fumes, Gases, Dust: Minimal.
REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) USED:
Workplace Safety: Non-slip shoes.
Food Safety: Nitrile gloves, hair and facial hair hairnets.
