Description

Responsibilities of the Harvesting Supervisor would include but not be limited to transporting plants within the facility, harvesting crops, packaging crops, and sanitizing equipment. The Harvesting supervisor would be responsible for the management of approximately 8 employees daily. The Harvesting supervisor would also be responsible for implementing, recording, and ensuring compliance of employees to food safely and facility protocols set forth by Shenandoah Growers. The Harvesting Supervisor would report to and take direction from the Production manager on most of the duties stated however must be self-motivated and take initiative on daily tasks. The Harvesting Supervisor will be working in a fast-paced dynamic environment which will require the ability to report and make decisions in real time and be available outside of working hours as the need arises or in emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises, assign duties and work schedules of 8 employees
  • Inspects plants to determine conditions and need for cultivating, spraying, weeding, cutting, planting or harvesting.
  • Assists with planting and harvesting operations.
  • Assists in land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management.
  • Operates equipment, i.e., power washer, hydraulic sprayer
  • Directs or assists in adjustment, repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Continually monitors and evaluates the efficiency of operations, equipment and work practices
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.

Experience: Experience in harvesting operations, knowledge of production equipment, experience with crew/personnel management in an agricultural operation.

Language Fluency: No specific language requirements; bi-lingual English/Spanish fluency preferred.

Technology: No specific technology requirements; basic computer and keyboarding skills preferred.

Licensure: No specific licensure required.

Credentials: No specific professional credentials required.
