Perform high-throughput soil processing, primarily for the molecular process which consists of soil sub-sampling, DNA extraction, DNA purification, NGS library, construction, and sequencing. Secondarily would support chemistry and carbon processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-throughput molecular processing of soil samples (sub-sampling to sequencing)
  • Compile and verify various sample manifests throughout the molecular workflow
  • Record and report inventory volumes using batch records and cycle counts
  • Track and submit workflow progress onto the LIMS system
  • Maintain and upkeep of lab organization
  • Investigate non-conformances and deviations in lab workflow and instrumentation
  • Revise standard operating procedures, as needed
  • Assist in executing lab development experiments
  • Discusses experimental results with involved party members
  • Supports ongoing validation projects (i.e. LIMS, automated liquid handling, and collaboration)
  • Comply with all Trace Genomics’ safety and company practices
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in life sciences (preferably Molecular biology)
  • 1-2 years of Molecular Biology experience (industry or academia)
  • Proficiency in high throughput molecular processing techniques (multichannel pipetting and/or automation)
  • Good documentation practices

Working Conditions:

  • To comply with the lab working conditions, such as wearing proper protective clothing (PPE) while performing lab tasks.
  • The workdays and hours for the lab are from Monday to Friday and during the morning shift, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Be able to stand or sit for long periods of time while performing lab tasks
